Award-winning plumbing and heating merchant City Plumbing hosted a charity five-a-side football tournament on Saturday, 8th June at Goals Leicester. The event saw participation from 16 teams, comprising colleagues, suppliers, and the senior leadership team of City Plumbing and its parent company, Highbourne Group. This fun-filled day, which also included food, competitions, and prizes, was aimed at raising funds for their charity partner, the Teenage Cancer Trust, building on the £3 million raised by the merchant to date.

The doors opened at 9am, and members of the public were invited to watch the tournament, show their support, and participate in various competitions and a raffle to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

A silent auction was held during the event, featuring lots such as a signed Manchester United football and a voucher for four to play at Tenby Golf Course. The raffle also offered exciting prizes, including a £250 hotel break voucher, a Samsung projector worth over £600, and a fifth-generation Apple iPad. In total, there were more than 30 prizes to be won.

Raffle tickets were sold at £5 each or three for £10, and could be purchased through City Plumbing’s Just Giving page. Attendees were encouraged to donate £2 per adult to watch the tournament, while children attended for free.

Kelsey Toon at City Plumbing, who has been the driving force behind the organising of the event, said: “We’re really looking forward to the tournament, it’s a fun and light-hearted way of raising valuable funds for a very important charity. To-date, Highbourne Group has raised more than £3m for the Teenage Cancer Trust and, with this event, we would like to add as much as we can to that amount for this incredible cause.

“For the teams entering the tournament alone, we’ve raised more than £1,000 already, and we’ve been inundated with donations of fabulous prizes for the raffle to help raise money. Anyone who would like to come along to show their support for the teams and the charity is more than welcome and we have some brilliant prizes on offer. Let’s just hope the weather is kind to us!”
